Offensive Security has released Kali Linux 2023.1
It is the first version of 2023 and the project's 10th anniversary, with a new distro called 'Kali Purple'
It aimed at Blue and Purple teamers for defensive security
With this release, the Kali Linux Team introduces a variety of new features includes,
1) Kali Purple for Blue and Purple Teams
2) Eight new tools!
3) Warning about Python changes
4) A Kali theme refresh and more!
Over a long period kali only focus on Offence now it landed its territory in Defence...
This new distro is still in the early stages but already includes over 100 defensive tools, including full packet capture and analysis, the cyber Swiss army knife, security information and event management, vulnerability scanning, incident response platforms, network traffic analysis tool suites, and intrusion detection systems.

Arkime - Full packet capture and analysis
CyberChef - The cyber swiss army knife
Elastic Security - Security Information and Event Management
GVM - Vulnerability scanner
TheHive - Incident response platform
Malcolm - Network traffic analysis tool suite
Suricata - Intrusion Detection System
Zeek - Intrusion Detection System
Remaining tools are as usual
Python in new Distro
Python is no exception, and Python 3.11 is now in Debian, which comes with more informative error tracebacks and huge speed increase (between 10-60%). The upgrade should not have as big of an impact.
But it has caused us some headaches with supporting older packages...
Refreshing Theme
The update includes new wallpapers for desktop, login, and boot displays, in addition to new variants of all the themes but now in Kali Purple flavor.
Backgrounds are designed as a direct reference to previous iconic Kali releases:
Boot - Kali 1.0
Login/Lock - Kali 2.0
Wallpaper - Kali 1.1
Main changes for Kali are found in:
Improved support for UI scaling

Split view
Errors faced by Many Users
1) Missing Tools
The above mentioned some of the tools are not included in the installer
Needs to be installed manually using apt
2) Vm or Peninstall - black screen blinking
Virtual machine installation brings the black screen error or burned image
Burned image with rufus and etcher same issues.
3) Process
Installation instructions are not clear and little more complex
some more errors on adding modules and some tools are removed from the installer

Based on usage it becomes most powerful for defense.
